Feather Falling IV cuts fall damage by 12% per level, which in practice means surviving drops that would otherwise kill you outright and taking a scratch from ones that used to hurt. Depth Strider III removes the underwater movement penalty. Frost Walker turns water to ice as you walk, which crosses oceans and, more usefully, saves you from a surprise swim in lava-adjacent terrain. Soul Speed makes soul sand and soul soil faster to walk on instead of slower, which transforms Nether travel across a soul sand valley. Frost Walker and Depth Strider are mutually exclusive, so most players build two pairs. Netherite adds what netherite always adds: immunity to lava, a slice of knockback resistance, and enough durability that the pair outlasts everything else in the kit.
