Overview
Frost Walker freezes the water beneath your feet into frosted ice as you walk, so an ocean becomes a floor. The ice appears in a radius around you and melts behind you, which means you are permanently standing on a small moving island — and once you have crossed water this way a few times, walking around an ocean edge feels absurd by comparison. The practical uses are wider than they first look: crossing lakes without a boat, standing safely on the surface of a flooded ravine while you fight, and bridging a bay without spending a single block. Lava is not among them — the enchantment ignores it completely, and stepping onto a lava lake in Frost Walker boots is simply a death. It is a treasure enchantment, so no enchanting table will ever offer it, and a librarian or a loot chest is the only route. The conflict with Depth Strider is the decision that matters. Surface travel and underwater work are opposite jobs, and a player who does both keeps two pairs of boots. Never wear Frost Walker while working from a boat — the ice it creates will trap the boat solidly.

How to get it
Treasure only: librarian trades, chest loot or fishing — an enchanting table never offers it. Level II is the maximum and freezes a wider radius than level I, and 2 level I books combine on an anvil to reach it.
Tips
- It conflicts with Depth Strider, so keep a second pair of boots for any underwater work.
- Never wear it near a boat you are using — the ice will lock the boat in place instantly.
- The ice melts behind you, so it makes a temporary crossing rather than a permanent bridge.
- It does nothing to lava, so a Nether crossing still needs blocks or Fire Resistance.
