Overview
Minecraft 1.0 was the game's official launch, finishing the Adventure Update that Beta 1.8 had started. It gave the sandbox an actual goal: find a stronghold, activate the End portal, and kill the ender dragon. Enchanting, brewing and hunger arrived together and defined survival progression for the next decade, and nether fortresses supplied the blaze rods that tie the two dimensions together.
What it added
- The End dimension and the ender dragon, the game's first boss and ending
- Brewing stands, potions and the full brewing system
- Enchanting tables and experience orbs
- The hunger bar replacing direct food healing
- Nether fortresses with blazes, magma cubes and nether wart
- Strongholds containing the End portal
- Mushroom fields, mooshrooms and snow golems
- Villagers given trades and behaviour in generated villages
