Overview
Slimes come in three sizes and each one splits into smaller copies when killed, so a large slime is really a queue of seven enemies. Listed stats are for the large size; mediums have 4 health and hit for 2, and tiny slimes deal no damage at all but are the only size that drops slimeballs. They bounce toward you constantly and are harmless in a two-block corridor where the large ones cannot fit.
In Minecraft, Slime is classified as a hostile mob. It has 16 health points, or 8 hearts. On Normal difficulty each hit costs you 4 damage.
It is worth 4 XP.
