Giant

Giant

Hostile

Overview

An unfinished mob from the earliest versions that was never given a spawn condition, a loot table or a spawn egg. It has no AI goals at all: it stands exactly where you summon it, never paths towards a player and never uses the attack damage its attribute table still carries. What it does have is scale — a zombie model 12 blocks tall and 3.6 wide, which clips through most ceilings and can be shot down from far outside its reach.

Giant sits under Hostile mobs in Minecraft 1.21.4. Health sits at 100 points (50 hearts). Killing one drops 5 experience.

Properties

Giant has 100 health, which is 50 hearts. It drops up to 5 experience when a player kills it. Its hitbox is 3.6 blocks wide and 12 tall, which is what decides whether it fits through a gap or a one-block-high opening.

Spawns in

Has no spawn condition in any dimension, no spawn egg in the creative inventory and no structure that generates one. The only way to see a giant is the /summon minecraft:giant command in a world with cheats enabled.

It has no biome restriction, so anywhere in the Overworld that meets the light and space conditions is a valid spawn.

How it behaves

The Giant attacks on sight within its detection range, so light, walls and distance are all valid answers. Most hostile mobs notice you inside about sixteen blocks, though a few — ghasts especially — see very much further.

Killed by a player it drops up to 5 experience; killed any other way it drops none.

Command

In a world with cheats on, this spawns one Giant where you are standing.

Summon

/summon minecraft:giant ~ ~ ~
