Overview
Savanna plateau is the raised tableland version of savanna: the same acacia trees, the same dry yellow grass and the same complete absence of rain, but lifted onto a broad flat mesa with steep sides and long views. The height is the practical difference. A plateau edge is a natural wall, which makes it far easier to secure than open savanna, and the flat top is large enough for an airport-sized build with no terraforming at all. Llamas spawn on savanna plateaus, which matters because a llama caravan carries up to 15 slots each and llamas can be leashed together into a train — the cheapest bulk transport in the game before minecarts. Savanna villages generate up here as well as on the low savanna. Horses and sheep spawn as they do below. Since 1.20.5, wolves that spawn on savanna plateau carry the spotted coat, one of the eight regional variants added in that release. Below the plateau, ordinary Overworld ore generation applies with no mountain bonus, because savanna plateau is not classed as a mountain biome. It borders savanna, windswept savanna and badlands.

How to get it
Savanna plateau generates as the elevated interior of large savanna regions, typically around Y 100 to Y 120. Walk inland from any savanna and look for the abrupt cliff edge that marks the tableland.
Tips
- Tame a llama by riding it repeatedly; a tamed llama's carrying capacity is 3 to 15 slots depending on its strength stat.
- Lead one llama and up to 10 will follow it in a caravan, which moves an entire base's worth of chests in one trip.
- The plateau edge is a 30-block drop in places — fence the perimeter before you build anything you will sprint across.
- Fire spreads unchecked here as in all savanna; keep at least 4 blocks of stone between a furnace room and any acacia.
