Overview
Yellow Glazed Terracotta is one of the 16 variants of White Glazed Terracotta: same recipe, same hardness, same drops — only the look differs. The full write-up for the set is on the White Glazed Terracotta page.
Yellow Glazed Terracotta is a coloured block in Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.4. At a hardness of 1.4 it takes a moment to break but never slows a build down. It needs at least a wooden pickaxe to drop anything; a weaker tool destroys it for nothing.
Mining it returns the block itself, so it is safe to relocate. A blast resistance of 1.4 means a single creeper will clear it away. It stacks to 64.
A furnace turns Yellow Terracotta into it. No recipe takes it as an ingredient.
About the yellow set
How long it takes to break
Hardness 1.4 puts Yellow Glazed Terracotta at 7 seconds a block bare-handed, or 0.25 seconds with the right tool at netherite tier.
Iron manages 0.35 seconds and diamond 0.3, which makes iron the tier that changes how this block feels.
Below wooden the block breaks and simply vanishes. Bring the right tier or leave it in the ground.
Efficiency adds its level squared plus one to the tool speed, so Efficiency V is about 2.5 times faster than the same tool unenchanted.
| Tool | No enchantment | Efficiency III | Efficiency V |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hand * | 7 s | 7 s | 7 s |
| Wooden | 1.1 s | 0.2 s | 0.1 s |
| Stone | 0.55 s | 0.15 s | 0.1 s |
| Iron | 0.35 s | 0.15 s | 0.1 s |
| Diamond | 0.3 s | 0.15 s | 0.1 s |
| Netherite | 0.25 s | 0.15 s | 0.1 s |
| Golden | 0.2 s | 0.1 s | 0.1 s |
Properties
Yellow Glazed Terracotta resists blasts at 1.4, which is not enough to survive anything explosive nearby. Light does not pass through it, and it emits none of its own. Stack size is 64 — the standard full stack. The fastest tool for it is a pickaxe; any other kind of tool mines it no faster than a bare hand does, because the speed bonus only applies to the tool class the block is tagged for.
