Overview

Orange Glazed Terracotta is one of the 16 variants of White Glazed Terracotta: same recipe, same hardness, same drops — only the look differs. The full write-up for the set is on the White Glazed Terracotta page.

Orange Glazed Terracotta counts as a coloured block in Minecraft 1.21.4. At a hardness of 1.4 it takes a moment to break but never slows a build down. It needs at least a wooden pickaxe to drop anything; a weaker tool destroys it for nothing.

Mining it returns the block itself, so it is safe to relocate. A blast resistance of 1.4 means a single creeper will clear it away. It stacks to 64.

A furnace turns Orange Terracotta into it. No recipe takes it as an ingredient.

About the orange set

How long it takes to break

Hardness 1.4 puts Orange Glazed Terracotta at 7 seconds a block bare-handed, or 0.25 seconds with the right tool at netherite tier.

Iron manages 0.35 seconds and diamond 0.3, which makes iron the tier that changes how this block feels.

A weaker tool still breaks it, but anything under wooden returns nothing — you spend the time and lose the drop, which is how most veins get wasted.

Efficiency contributes its level squared plus one to tool speed, which makes Efficiency V roughly 2.5 times faster than the plain tool.

Properties

Blast resistance on Orange Glazed Terracotta is 1.4, so any explosion nearby takes it out. It stops light entirely and gives off no light. 64 fit in a slot — a full stack. The block is tagged for pickaxes, and only that class gets the speed bonus; everything else mines at bare-hand rate.
