Overview
Crimson forest is the dark red fungal forest of the Nether and the safest of its biomes to walk through, because the ground is solid crimson nylium rather than a lava field. Huge crimson fungi grow like trees, with crimson stems for trunks, nether wart blocks for the caps, and shroomlight scattered through them — a light source with a light level of 15 that is only found here and in warped forest. Weeping vines hang from the ceilings of the overhangs and can be climbed. This is the only biome where hoglins spawn naturally, which makes it the only reliable supply of raw porkchops in the Nether and the place to catch breeding stock for a hoglin farm; piglins are also common here, so gold armour is not optional. Crimson stems can be stripped and crafted into a full wood set that is completely fireproof, which is why crimson and warped are the standard woods for building anywhere near lava. Crimson forest borders nether wastes and soul sand valley most often, and the transition is a wall of red fungus against bare netherrack.
