Overview

Purple Banner — wall-mounted is one of the 16 variants of White Banner — wall-mounted: same recipe, same hardness, same drops — only the look differs. The full write-up for the set is on the White Banner — wall-mounted page.

Purple Banner — wall-mounted is a coloured block in Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.4. It cannot be obtained in Survival — it exists for Creative mode and commands. Hardness 1 puts it in the middle of the pack for mining speed.

No specific tool is required to collect it. Instead of dropping itself it yields Purple Banner. Because it is transparent it does not block light.

A blast resistance of 1 means a single creeper will clear it away. It is not used in any crafting recipe.

About the purple set

How long it takes to break

At a hardness of 1, Purple Banner — wall-mounted takes 1.5 seconds to punch out and 0.2 seconds with a netherite-tier tool of the correct class.

An iron tool takes 0.25 seconds and a diamond one 0.2, so the jump that actually matters for this block is the one to iron.

No particular tool tier is required: any tool, or none at all, still yields the drop, so the table below is about speed rather than about whether you get anything.

The Efficiency formula is level² + 1 added to tool speed — at V that is about 4 times the unenchanted rate.

Properties

Blast resistance on Purple Banner — wall-mounted is 1, so any explosion nearby takes it out. It lets light pass and gives off no light. Fire spreads to it readily (encouragement 60, burn 20), so keep it away from lava and away from anything you would rather not lose. An axe is the fastest choice here. A tool of the wrong class is no better than your fist — the speed bonus is tied to the block's own tool tag. Broken normally it drops Purple Banner rather than itself; Silk Touch is what returns the block, and Fortune raises the ordinary drop instead.
