Overview

Flower forest is the biome to visit when you need dye, because it generates every small flower in the game in dense patches across a normal temperate forest floor. Allium, azure bluet, oxeye daisy, cornflower, lily of the valley and all four tulip colours grow here in quantity, alongside the dandelions and poppies you find anywhere, and each of them is a 1-to-1 dye conversion at a crafting table. That makes a flower forest the cheapest route to magenta, light blue, pink, orange and light grey dye without a single bone meal. Bees spawn here and bee nests generate on the trees at a noticeably higher rate than in an ordinary forest, so honeycomb and honey bottles are available on the same trip. Rabbits spawn here too. The trees are the usual oak and birch mix, so wood and saplings are no problem, and the terrain is gentle enough to build on. A flower forest is also the only reliable place to find bee nests already stocked with 3 bees, which is what you need to start a hive at home. It borders forest, birch forest, meadow and plains.

Every small flower and therefore every flower-based dye, bee nests for honeycomb and honey, and a stock of suspicious stew ingredients — a flower plus a mushroom gives a stew with the flower's effect.

Flower Forest sits in the temperate band of Minecraft's biome table, generating in the Overworld at a base temperature of 0.7.

Weather reaches Flower Forest: it rains during storms, so crops grow and cauldrons fill on their own.

2 mobs name Flower Forest specifically among their spawn biomes: Bee and Rabbit.

Forest biomes are the game's default temperate terrain: trees dense enough to need a path cut through them, grass and flowers on the floor, and passive animals in the clearings. They are where most players build, because wood, food and a flat-enough surface all occur together.

How to get it

Flower forest is an uncommon variant that generates beside ordinary forest and birch forest. It is visible from 100 blocks away as a patch of colour, and bone meal on the grass there yields still more flowers.

Tips

  • Bone meal a grass block in a flower forest and it produces the biome's own flower set, not just dandelions and poppies.
  • Move a bee nest with a Silk Touch tool and the 3 bees inside come with it; break it any other way and they are lost.
  • Two tulips of the same colour give 2 dye, but an oxeye daisy plus a bone gives light grey more cheaply than white plus grey.
  • Suspicious stew made with a lily of the valley causes Poison — check the flower before you eat one you crafted for the effect.

Climate and generation

Flower Forest has a base temperature of 0.7, which puts it in the temperate band. Temperature is not a thermometer reading — it is the single number that decides snow versus rain, whether water freezes over, and what colour the grass renders.

Above 0.15 water stays liquid and any precipitation falls as rain.

Mobs in Flower Forest

Bee and Rabbit name Flower Forest specifically as a spawn biome, so this is where you go to find them.

On top of those, the mobs that spawn in open terrain anywhere in the Overworld can appear here too, given the right light level. Mobs that only come from a structure or a spawner — breezes from trial chambers, blazes from fortresses, evokers from mansions — are deliberately not in this list.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find Flower Forest?

Flower Forest generates in the Overworld. A locate command finds the nearest one instantly; without cheats, exploring in one direction and watching the F3 screen's biome line is the reliable method.

What spawns in Flower Forest?

Bee and Rabbit spawn here specifically, and the usual Overworld mobs can appear given the right light level.

Does it rain in Flower Forest?

Yes — as rain. Cauldrons fill on their own during a storm and farmland stays hydrated.
