Overview

Gray Concrete is one of the 16 variants of White Concrete: same recipe, same hardness, same drops — only the look differs. The full write-up for the set is on the White Concrete page.

Gray Concrete is a coloured block in Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.4. It has no crafting recipe — you collect it by mining it where it generates. Hardness 1.8 puts it in the middle of the pack for mining speed.

Mine it with a wooden pickaxe or better, or you get no drop at all. Broken correctly, it drops itself. It offers almost no protection from explosions (1.8 blast resistance).

A full stack holds 64. It is not used in any crafting recipe.

About the gray set

How long it takes to break

Gray Concrete has a hardness of 1.8. By hand that is 9 seconds per block; with the correct tool at netherite tier it is 0.3 seconds.

An iron tool takes 0.45 seconds and a diamond one 0.35, so the jump that actually matters for this block is the one to iron.

It will break below wooden, and you will get nothing for it. That combination of time spent and drop lost is the classic mining mistake.

The Efficiency formula is level² + 1 added to tool speed — at V that is about 3 times the unenchanted rate.

Properties

Gray Concrete resists blasts at 1.8, which is not enough to survive anything explosive nearby. Light does not pass through it, and it emits none of its own. Stack size is 64 — the standard full stack. A pickaxe is the fastest choice here. A tool of the wrong class is no better than your fist — the speed bonus is tied to the block's own tool tag.

How do you get Gray Concrete in Minecraft?

Mine Gray Concrete with Wooden Pickaxe and it drops itself.

What tool do you need to break Gray Concrete?

Wooden Pickaxe or better is required; anything weaker destroys the block without dropping it.

How many Gray Concrete fit in one stack?

64 per stack, so a double chest holds 3,456 Gray Concrete.

How long does Gray Concrete take to break?

0.3 seconds with a netherite-tier tool of the right class, or 9 seconds bare-handed.
