Overview
Best remembered for jungles and ocelots, but the more important change was under the hood: mobs got real pathfinding AI instead of wandering blindly, which is why zombies started actually besieging villages. Doubling the world height to 256 blocks gave builders the vertical room that mountain and skyscraper builds still rely on, and iron golems gave villages their first defence.
