Overview
A Trader Llama arrives leashed to somebody else, and its only job is to spit at anyone who attacks its employer. Two of them escort every wandering trader, permanently tied by leads, and they behave like bodyguards that deal a token 1 damage and stagger the attacker rather than killing anything. What makes them worth an entry is what happens afterwards. Kill the trader, or wait for him to despawn, and the llamas stay — and unlike a wild llama they never despawn once their trader is gone, so you have two free pack animals that walked to your front door. Tame one by mounting it repeatedly, fit a chest, and it works exactly like an ordinary Llama, with a strength value rolled between 1 and 5 giving 3 to 15 inventory slots and health rolled between 15 and 30. The one visible difference is the decorated carpet on its back, which cannot be removed or replaced with your own. They also join caravans in the usual way, so a lead on one pulls both. For players far from any savanna plateau, this is often the easiest route to a chested pack animal at all.
