Overview
Conduit Power bundles three separate underwater problems into one solution, and it is the reason ocean bases became practical. Inside its radius you breathe indefinitely, you see as though the water were not there, and you mine at full speed rather than the fivefold penalty water normally imposes. Any one of those would need its own answer — a potion, another potion, and Aqua Affinity on a helmet — and the conduit supplies all three continuously to everyone inside it, for free, forever. It even attacks hostile mobs nearby once the frame is complete. Building one is the real cost. A conduit needs a Heart of the Sea, which comes only from buried treasure, plus eight nautilus shells that come from fishing, drowned drops or wandering traders — and then a frame of prismarine, dark prismarine, prismarine bricks or sea lanterns around it. The frame's size sets the radius, and the largest frame covers a serious stretch of seabed. For a monument clearance this changes everything, because the conduit answer survives a milk bucket where a potion does not, and milk is what you drink to clear Mining Fatigue.
Making a stretch of ocean floor into a workspace — monument clearing, underwater building, drowned farming — without spending a potion every three minutes or surfacing for air.
Combines Water Breathing, Night Vision underwater and Haste. Granted automatically near an activated conduit.
Conduit Power is a beneficial status effect. Nothing brews it, so it runs for as long as whatever applied it keeps doing so.
You will see it as an inventory icon in the top-right corner with a countdown, plus a trail of particles in the effect's colour — faint rather than absent when a beacon or a conduit applied it. There is no beacon version, so it always runs out.
How to get it
Place a Conduit inside a frame of prismarine or sea lanterns: 16 blocks activates it and 42 gives the maximum range of 96 blocks. The conduit itself needs 1 Heart of the Sea and 8 nautilus shells.
Tips
- 42 frame blocks is the number worth building to; anything between 16 and 42 gives a proportionally smaller radius.
- It survives milk, so you can clear Mining Fatigue inside a monument without losing your underwater kit.
- The conduit damages nearby hostile mobs at full frame size, which quietly handles the guardians that wander in.
- Nautilus shells come from fishing and wandering traders as well as drowned, so a rod supply beats hunting for them.
What each level does
What the inventory calls level II is amplifier 1, because the amplifier counts from zero. Level by level:
Anything above I is command-only — the amplifier field runs as far as 255.
| Level | Effect |
|---|---|
| I | water breathing, night vision underwater and no mining-speed penalty in water |
Properties
No potion produces Conduit Power. Its sources are Conduit, and its duration is whatever they give it. Drinking milk clears it, along with every other effect you are carrying.
