Overview
A Heart of the Sea is the core of a Conduit and comes from exactly one place: a buried treasure chest, found by following the treasure map inside a shipwreck or an ocean ruin. That makes conduit-building an exploration project rather than a crafting one. The chain is fixed — find a shipwreck, take the map from its map chest, sail to the X marked on it, dig down, and the chest holds one heart along with emeralds, iron, gold and occasionally a diamond. Every buried treasure chest contains a heart, so the only real cost is the sailing. Once you have it, eight Nautilus Shells surround it to make the conduit, and the conduit gives a wide underwater area permanent water breathing, night vision and full mining speed. That single block is what makes ocean monument conversion, underwater bases and large sea-floor builds practical. Hearts stack to 64 but there is no reason to have more than one per conduit, and shipwrecks are common enough that a second is never far away. One shipwreck, one map, one dig, and the whole ocean opens up.
The centre block of a conduit, which is the only permanent underwater breathing, night vision and mining-speed effect in the game. It has no other purpose whatsoever.
In Minecraft, Heart of the Sea is a crafting material item. A full stack holds 64. It also turns up in chests in Buried Treasure.
It goes into exactly one recipe: Conduit.
How to get it
Dig up a buried treasure chest using the map from a shipwreck or ocean ruin; every buried treasure chest contains exactly 1 heart. There is no recipe and no trade.
Tips
- Shipwreck map chests are the reliable route; the map marks the treasure with an X you dig straight down on.
- Buried treasure is usually 1 to 3 blocks under sand or gravel on a beach or the sea floor.
- Bring a shovel and a water bucket; the dig is fast but the hole often floods on the last block.
- One heart plus 8 nautilus shells is one conduit — plan the shell collection before the sail home.
Properties
One inventory slot holds 64, so a double chest holds 3,456.
