Overview
A TNT Minecart is a bomb on wheels, and it detonates in ways plain TNT cannot. Run it over an activator rail and it primes and blows after a fuse; damage it, shoot it with a flaming arrow, or derail it at speed and it explodes immediately. The blast is stronger when the cart is moving quickly, because its momentum is added to the explosion power, which is why the classic tunnel-boring design fires carts down a track at speed. Two practical uses dominate. The first is mining: a line of TNT carts run into a stone face clears a large tunnel far faster than a pickaxe, though it destroys most of what it uncovers. The second is defence and PvP, where a cart on a hidden track under a doorway is an unpleasant surprise for anything that walks over the activator rail. Because the explosion happens where the cart is rather than where you are, it is also the safest way to blow something up remotely with no redstone timing to get wrong. Test the track empty before you load a single cart.

How to get it
Craft 1 from 1 TNT and 1 Minecart. TNT itself needs 5 gunpowder and 4 sand, so a creeper farm or a witch farm is the practical supply for more than a few carts.
Tips
- A moving cart explodes harder than a stationary one, so give the track a long run-up before the target.
- An activator rail is the controlled trigger; derailment or fire is the uncontrolled one, and both work.
- TNT carts destroy most of the ore they uncover, so use them for tunnels and not for excavating diamonds.
- Water absorbs explosion damage to blocks: a flooded chamber lets you test cart placement without wrecking the room.
