Overview
The resin block is the 1.21.4 material that comes out of the pale garden, and it is worth knowing because it fills a gap in the colour palette that nothing else covers: a deep amber-orange that reads as translucent sap rather than as stone or wood. Resin clumps are the raw form, and they appear in two ways — scattered on the blocks around a creaking heart when the heart is broken, and sprayed onto nearby blocks when a creaking takes damage, which effectively means a fight with a creaking produces resin as a by-product. Nine clumps craft into one resin block, and that block crafts on into resin bricks, which then follow the usual brick family into stairs, slabs and walls, plus a chiseled variant. For builders the appeal is that the colour sits between honey block amber and terracotta orange without either one's texture, and unlike honey it is a normal solid block with no stickiness and no slowing effect. The whole chain is renewable in the sense that creakings respawn from their hearts every night, so a pale garden is a repeatable source rather than a one-off deposit.
A warm amber building block with no honey-block side effects, and the base of the resin brick family — bricks, stairs, slabs, walls and the chiseled variant — for detailing in a colour nothing else provides.
Minecraft classifies Block of Resin as a building block. Block of Resin has a crafting recipe, so it is renewable as long as you can source its ingredients. With a hardness of 0 it gives way immediately under almost any tool.
Any tool works, and so do bare hands. Mining it returns the block itself, so it is safe to relocate. A blast resistance of 0 means a single creeper will clear it away.
It stacks to 64. You make it with Resin Clump. The one thing it makes is Creaking Heart.
How to get it
Craft 1 resin block from 9 resin clumps. Clumps come from breaking a creaking heart and from damaging a creaking, both of which happen only in the pale garden, which generates rarely beside dark forest.
Tips
- Hitting a creaking sprays resin clumps onto blocks nearby, so a long fight is itself a resin farm.
- 9 clumps make 1 block; the bricks are a further step, so budget roughly 36 clumps for a brick-stair run.
- Unlike honey blocks, resin blocks have no stickiness and do not slow you down, so they are safe as flooring.
- Creakings respawn nightly from their hearts, which makes a pale garden a repeatable source rather than a fixed deposit.
Version notes
Resin clumps, resin blocks and resin bricks were all added in 1.21.4 (The Garden Awakens).
