Acacia Fence

Overview

Acacia Fence is one of the 13 variants of this shape in the game. What changes between them is the material, and with it the hardness, the drops, the durability and the recipe — so every figure on this page is this variant's own. Oak Fence is the same shape in a different material.

Acacia Fence counts as a building block in Minecraft 1.21.4. Acacia Fence has a crafting recipe, so it is renewable as long as you can source its ingredients. At a hardness of 2 it takes a moment to break but never slows a build down.

Broken correctly, it drops itself. Sixty-four fit in one inventory slot. The recipe calls for Acacia Planks and Stick.

It is not used in any crafting recipe.

About the acacia set

Acacia is the orange wood, and it is the only one — no other tree in Minecraft produces planks in that colour, which is why acacia turns up in builds that need warmth without going red. It grows only in savanna and savanna plateau, on a trunk that leans diagonally under a flat spreading canopy, so felling one leaves floating log segments unless you cut from the top down. The set is the standard twelve-piece one: planks, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, signs, hanging signs, buttons, pressure plates and a boat, all sharing a hardness of 2, a blast resistance of 3, and the same recipes as every other wood. Remember that savanna never rains, so an acacia build has no natural fire protection at all — keep lava, campfires and furnaces well away from it, or add a lightning rod.

How long it takes to break

Acacia Fence has a hardness of 2. By hand that is 3 seconds per block; with the correct tool at netherite tier it is 0.35 seconds.

Iron takes 0.5 seconds against diamond's 0.4, so the upgrade worth making for this block is the one to iron.

No particular tool tier is required: any tool, or none at all, still yields the drop, so the table below is about speed rather than about whether you get anything.

Each Efficiency level adds level² + 1 to the tool's speed, so a level V tool clears this about 3.5 times faster than an unenchanted one.

Properties

With 3 blast resistance Acacia Fence usually goes down to a nearby explosion. It is fully opaque and produces no light. Stack size is 64 — the standard full stack. Fire takes to it quickly — encouragement 5, burn 20 — which makes it a poor neighbour for lava or a lit campfire. An axe is the fastest choice here. A tool of the wrong class is no better than your fist — the speed bonus is tied to the block's own tool tag. As furnace fuel it burns for 15 seconds — one and a half smelting operations.
