Acacia Slab

Overview

Acacia Slab is one of the 30 variants of this shape in the game. What changes between them is the material, and with it the hardness, the drops, the durability and the recipe — so every figure on this page is this variant's own. Oak Slab is the same shape in a different material.

Acacia Slab is a building block in Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.4. A crafting table turns its ingredients into Acacia Slab. Its hardness of 2 makes it a normal, unhurried block to mine.

Mining it returns the block itself, so it is safe to relocate. A full stack holds 64. It is crafted from Acacia Planks.

Its main value is as a crafting ingredient: 5 recipes need it, Barrel, Chiseled Bookshelf, Composter and 2 more among them.

About the acacia set

Acacia is the orange wood, and it is the only one — no other tree in Minecraft produces planks in that colour, which is why acacia turns up in builds that need warmth without going red. It grows only in savanna and savanna plateau, on a trunk that leans diagonally under a flat spreading canopy, so felling one leaves floating log segments unless you cut from the top down. The set is the standard twelve-piece one: planks, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, signs, hanging signs, buttons, pressure plates and a boat, all sharing a hardness of 2, a blast resistance of 3, and the same recipes as every other wood. Remember that savanna never rains, so an acacia build has no natural fire protection at all — keep lava, campfires and furnaces well away from it, or add a lightning rod.

How long it takes to break

At a hardness of 2, Acacia Slab takes 3 seconds to punch out and 0.35 seconds with a netherite-tier tool of the correct class.

An iron tool takes 0.5 seconds and a diamond one 0.4, so the jump that actually matters for this block is the one to iron.

Nothing here needs a minimum tier: whatever you swing, the block still drops, and the only difference is how long it takes.

Each Efficiency level adds level² + 1 to the tool's speed, so a level V tool clears this about 3.5 times faster than an unenchanted one.

Properties

Acacia Slab has a blast resistance of 3, so a nearby explosion will usually destroy it. It blocks light completely and emits no light of its own. 64 fit in a slot — a full stack. Flammable, at encouragement 5 and burn 20: build with it away from lava, and do not use it as a wall you care about. The fastest tool for it is an axe; any other kind of tool mines it no faster than a bare hand does, because the speed bonus only applies to the tool class the block is tagged for. As furnace fuel it burns for 7.5 seconds — 0.8 smelting operations.
