Stone sits at hardness 1.5: 7.5 seconds per block with your fists, 0.25 with the correct netherite tool.
An iron tool takes 0.4 seconds and a diamond one 0.3, so the jump that actually matters for this block is the one to diamond.
A weaker tool still breaks it, but anything under wooden returns nothing — you spend the time and lose the drop, which is how most veins get wasted.

Properties
Stone has a blast resistance of 6, so a nearby explosion will usually destroy it. It blocks light completely and emits no light of its own. Stack size is 64 — the standard full stack. It renews, so a single world will never run out. A pickaxe is fastest here; any other class mines it at bare-hand speed, because the bonus only applies to the class the block is tagged for. Broken normally it drops Cobblestone rather than itself; Silk Touch is what returns the block, and Fortune raises the ordinary drop instead.
