Overview

Polished Tuff Slab is a stone-family block in Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.4. A crafting table turns its ingredients into Polished Tuff Slab. Its hardness of 1.5 makes it a normal, unhurried block to mine.

Anything below a wooden pickaxe breaks it without leaving a drop. It drops as the same block you mined. It stacks to 64.

You make it with Polished Tuff. You can also cut it from Polished Tuff on a stonecutter. It is not used in any crafting recipe.

How long it takes to break

Polished Tuff Slab sits at hardness 1.5: 7.5 seconds per block with your fists, 0.25 with the correct netherite tool.

Iron manages 0.4 seconds and diamond 0.3, which makes diamond the tier that changes how this block feels.

It will break below wooden, and you will get nothing for it. That combination of time spent and drop lost is the classic mining mistake.

The Efficiency formula is level² + 1 added to tool speed — at V that is about 2.5 times the unenchanted rate.

Polished Tuff Slab has a blast resistance of 6, so a nearby explosion will usually destroy it. It blocks light completely and emits no light of its own. Stack size is 64 — the standard full stack. The block is tagged for pickaxes, and only that class gets the speed bonus; everything else mines at bare-hand rate. As furnace fuel it burns for 7.5 seconds — 0.8 smelting operations.
