Overview
Minecraft classifies Lava Cauldron as a Nether block. It is available only in Creative mode or through commands. At a hardness of 2 it takes a moment to break but never slows a build down.
It needs at least a wooden pickaxe to drop anything; a weaker tool destroys it for nothing. What you actually collect is Cauldron. At light level 15 it lights a room as well as a torch does.
Light passes through it, so it will not darken the space behind it. It offers almost no protection from explosions (2 blast resistance). No recipe takes it as an ingredient.
