Overview
In Minecraft 1.21.4, Lava Cauldron is a Nether block. It cannot be obtained in Survival — it exists for Creative mode and commands. Hardness 2 puts it in the middle of the pack for mining speed.
Mine it with a wooden pickaxe or better, or you get no drop at all. Instead of dropping itself it yields Cauldron. It glows at light level 15, which is full-strength lighting for mob-proofing.
It is transparent, which matters when you are managing light levels. With a blast resistance of only 2 it will not survive an explosion. Nothing on the crafting grid is made from it.
How long it takes to break
Lava Cauldron sits at hardness 2: 10 seconds per block with your fists, 0.35 with the correct netherite tool.
An iron tool takes 0.5 seconds and a diamond one 0.4, so the jump that actually matters for this block is the one to iron.
Below wooden the block breaks and simply vanishes. Bring the right tier or leave it in the ground.
The Efficiency formula is level² + 1 added to tool speed — at V that is about 3.5 times the unenchanted rate.

Properties
Blast resistance on Lava Cauldron is 2, so any explosion nearby takes it out. It lets light pass and gives off light level 15. The block is tagged for pickaxes, and only that class gets the speed bonus; everything else mines at bare-hand rate. Broken normally it drops Cauldron rather than itself; Silk Touch is what returns the block, and Fortune raises the ordinary drop instead.
