Overview
Water Cauldron counts as a functional block in Minecraft 1.21.4. It is available only in Creative mode or through commands. At a hardness of 2 it takes a moment to break but never slows a build down.
It needs at least a wooden pickaxe to drop anything; a weaker tool destroys it for nothing. What you actually collect is Cauldron. It is transparent, which matters when you are managing light levels.
With a blast resistance of only 2 it will not survive an explosion. Nothing on the crafting grid is made from it.

Water Cauldron sits at hardness 2: 10 seconds per block with your fists, 0.35 with the correct netherite tool.
Iron takes 0.5 seconds against diamond's 0.4, so the upgrade worth making for this block is the one to iron.

Properties
Water Cauldron has a blast resistance of 2, so any explosion nearby destroys it. It lets light through and emits no light of its own. The fastest tool for it is a pickaxe; any other kind of tool mines it no faster than a bare hand does, because the speed bonus only applies to the tool class the block is tagged for. Broken normally it drops Cauldron rather than itself; Silk Touch is what returns the block, and Fortune raises the ordinary drop instead.
