Overview
An End Crystal is the item that respawns the ender dragon and, in the wrong hands, one of the most destructive objects in the game. Place four of them on the sides of the exit portal in the End and the dragon returns, complete with regenerating pillar crystals and another round of experience and Dragon's Breath — which is the only renewable source of that ingredient. Placed anywhere else, on obsidian or bedrock only, a crystal is a bomb: shooting or hitting one produces an explosion considerably larger than TNT, and because crystals can be placed instantly and chain-detonate, they are the basis of crystal PvP on survival servers and of some very fast Nether mining techniques. Crafting takes 7 glass, an eye of ender and a ghast tear, so the real cost is a Nether trip for the tear. Handle them carefully in a base: a crystal placed on obsidian and struck by a stray arrow will remove the room it is in. Placed with care they are a tool; placed carelessly they are a crater with your name on it.
Respawning the ender dragon for more experience and dragon's breath, and — placed on obsidian or bedrock — delivering an explosion far larger than a block of TNT.

Tips
- Crystals can only be placed on obsidian or bedrock, which is what limits their use as a weapon.
- Four crystals on the exit portal respawn the dragon; the pillar crystals regenerate along with it.
- The explosion is bigger than TNT and detonates other crystals, so never test one near a base.
- Respawning is the only renewable source of dragon's breath for Lingering Potions.
