Overview

Minecraft classifies Crimson Fungus as a Nether block. It has no crafting recipe — you collect it by mining it where it generates. A hardness of 0 means it is one of the quicker blocks to clear.

No specific tool is required to collect it. Broken correctly, it drops itself. Because it is transparent it does not block light.

A blast resistance of 0 means a single creeper will clear it away. It stacks to 64. Nothing on the crafting grid is made from it.

About the crimson set

Crimson is not wood at all — it is fungus, harvested from the huge crimson fungi that grow on nylium in the crimson forest — and that biology gives the whole set its defining property: crimson blocks are completely fireproof. They will not burn, fire will not spread across them, and lava will not set them alight, which makes crimson and warped the only sensible building materials anywhere near lava or in the Nether generally. The set covers planks, stairs, slabs, fences, gates, doors, trapdoors, signs, hanging signs, buttons and pressure plates, but there is no crimson boat, because a stem is not a log. Crimson stems strip with an axe like a log and the planks are a deep maroon-red found nowhere else. Bone meal on crimson nylium grows a new huge fungus instantly, so the set is fully renewable from one nylium block.
