Overview
Pigstep is the music disc that comes from bastion remnants and nowhere else, which makes it the rarest ordinary disc in the game and by some distance the most sought after. Lena Raine wrote it for the Nether Update, and it is the only disc whose track was composed for a specific dimension — a heavy, percussive piece that sounds like the bastion it is found in. Play it in a Jukebox and every player within 65 blocks hears it, and a jukebox with a disc playing emits a redstone signal a comparator can read, which is how music-triggered builds are wired. Unlike almost every other disc, Pigstep is not dropped by a creeper killed by a skeleton — the classic disc-farming trick produces the original set only, so a bastion raid is the only route. It appears in the generic and treasure chests of bastion remnants at a modest rate, so bring gold armour to keep the piglins calm and expect to check several chests. Finding one is the closest thing a bastion raid has to a trophy. Frame it rather than losing it.
Playing in a jukebox — the rarest music disc in the game, and one of only a handful that cannot be farmed from creepers killed by skeletons.
Music Disc — Pigstep is a music disc item in Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.4. It is unstackable. Look for it in the loot of Bastion Remnant.
It is not used in any crafting recipe.
How to get it
Loot a bastion remnant; Pigstep generates in its chests at roughly a 5 to 10% rate depending on the room. No creeper drop or trade produces it.
Tips
- A jukebox with a disc in it emits a comparator signal, which is how music-activated redstone is built.
- Wear gold armour in the bastion so piglins ignore you while you check the chests.
- The skeleton-shoots-creeper disc trick does not work for Pigstep; only bastion loot produces it.
- Music carries 65 blocks from the jukebox, so one disc covers a fairly large hall.
Version notes
Added in 1.16 with the Nether Update, composed by Lena Raine specifically for bastion remnants.
