Overview

Acacia Hanging Sign is one of the 12 variants of this shape in the game. What changes between them is the material, and with it the hardness, the drops, the durability and the recipe — so every figure on this page is this variant's own. Oak Hanging Sign is the same shape in a different material.

In Minecraft 1.21.4, Acacia Hanging Sign is a functional block. Acacia Hanging Sign has a crafting recipe, so it is renewable as long as you can source its ingredients. At a hardness of 1 it takes a moment to break but never slows a build down.

Any tool works, and so do bare hands. Mining it returns the block itself, so it is safe to relocate. It is transparent, which matters when you are managing light levels.

With a blast resistance of only 1 it will not survive an explosion. The stack limit is 16, so plan inventory space. The recipe calls for Chain and Stripped Acacia Log.

It is not used in any crafting recipe.

About the acacia set

Acacia is the orange wood, and it is the only one — no other tree in Minecraft produces planks in that colour, which is why acacia turns up in builds that need warmth without going red. It grows only in savanna and savanna plateau, on a trunk that leans diagonally under a flat spreading canopy, so felling one leaves floating log segments unless you cut from the top down. The set is the standard twelve-piece one: planks, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, signs, hanging signs, buttons, pressure plates and a boat, all sharing a hardness of 2, a blast resistance of 3, and the same recipes as every other wood. Remember that savanna never rains, so an acacia build has no natural fire protection at all — keep lava, campfires and furnaces well away from it, or add a lightning rod.

How long it takes to break

Hardness 1 puts Acacia Hanging Sign at 1.5 seconds a block bare-handed, or 0.2 seconds with the right tool at netherite tier.

Iron takes 0.25 seconds against diamond's 0.2, so the upgrade worth making for this block is the one to iron.

No particular tool tier is required: any tool, or none at all, still yields the drop, so the table below is about speed rather than about whether you get anything.

Each Efficiency level adds level² + 1 to the tool's speed, so a level V tool clears this about 4 times faster than an unenchanted one.

With 1 blast resistance Acacia Hanging Sign goes down to any nearby explosion. It is transparent to light and produces no light. 16 fit in a slot. An axe is fastest here; any other class mines it at bare-hand speed, because the bonus only applies to the class the block is tagged for.
